Our expressions are formed by feelings, consciously or unconsciously,
and tell a story of who we are now. We will all have an emotional
response on Inauguration Day 2009: it ends eight years of nightmare,
and begins the first African American Presidency in the United States.
A collaboration between Shanna Maurizi, Naomi White and Rose
Callahan, the Inauguration Day Portrait Project intends to capture the
cultural zeitgeist at the individual level.
At the new White Box space on the Bowery, we will be inviting
participants from 6:30 - 11pm to have their portrait taken. All
participants will receive a digital image of their portrait via
email. Please come by and be a part of the project, as well as eat,
drink, party and burlesque! What better way to usher in a new era of
Hope!
